The building has a very attractive cornice and is located on the northern end of a stretch of Hudson Street that was developed with very large and attractive industrial buildings in the early part of the 20th Century, many of them on property owned by Trinity (Episcopal) Church. This is the most handsome of such buildings and along with the Archive Building a few block to the north at Greenwich and Christopher Streets was one of the city's most earliest and important residential conversions of large commercial structures.
One of the most coveted places to live, play and people-watch in Manhattan, the popular West Village is intimate, quaint, and synonymous with New York's bohemian culture. Even the many chic shops, restaurants and nightspots that delight residents do not detract from the inherent appeal of this neighborhood which is still defined by its deep artistic roots.
The West Village's small-town charm lies in its tree-lined cobblestone streets, brownstones, townhouses and prewar buildings. Defined as the extension of Greenwich Village west of Seventh Avenue, the West Village affords a more casual, tranquil approach to city living. Residents have access to trendy dining spots, abundant shops and antique stores, diverse arts and nightlife, the beauty of outdoors at nearby Hudson River Park, and convenient transportation to virtually anywhere in town.
The apartment itself is large, grand and flooded with light. It overlooks a park on a quiet side street. All rooms are spacious, well-appointed and comfortable.
Approximately 1400 sq. ft., there are two bedrooms one with a king-sized bed and the other with a bunk bed (two singles one above the other). There is an additional comfortably sized mezzanine sleeping area with a new queen-sized sofa bed. If needed, owner will provide a comfortable air mattress. There are two full baths.
The cooks-kitchen and adjacent dining area is large enough for great family dinners. The exposed brick and 16' foot windows remind guests of the building's unique character and architectural history, while the updated, modern interior allow guests to feel warmth, charm and comfort every moment they're in the apartment.
